This was fantastic! I didn't have pearl onions or fresh thyme, so I sliced 2 small sweet onions and added about a teaspoon of dried thyme. Yum!!!

My husband and I loved this recipe. However, I did make a few changes. I had planned to use boneless thighs and defrosted a package but when I went to start cooking I found that I had bone-in thighs. Oops - guess I didn't read the package. Anyway, no big deal. I made the recipe with bone-in and cooked it for 60 minutes. I also added 1/2 pound of baby carrots and used dijon mustard instead of whole grain because that's what I had. The chicken was beautifully tender and the sauce was wonderful. I think using the bone-in was a bonus because it allowed me to cook the sauce longer and develop great flavor. I will definitely make this again with bone-in but I will also try boneless next time.

I followed the recipe exactly. It was really good!! I recommend using a stockpot or dutch oven to cook this. Also, i think it helps to be a little generous with the salt and pepper. My husband loved it

This was delish! I didn't have onions (I'm sure it would have been even better with them. The sauce looked so good when the chicken and potatoes were done that I didn't want to waste it. I added a pound of green beans and when those came to a boil added some fluffy dumplings. Fantastic!

Not sure what I did wrong, but it smelled like beer and tasted like nothing. Maybe I used a pot that was too small, because I had to use quite a bit of chicken broth to be able to cover all the chicken.

Very nice flavor. Be prepared for a very heavy dish due to the bacon and chicken skin. I saved the gravy and added a pound and a half of cooked carrots. I consider this a wonderful winter time dish.

I added green beans because that was what I had on hand and I wanted a 1 pot meal. My husband eats just about anything (including a slice of pumpkin pie that I forgot the sugar when mixing it and he wouldn't eat this. Everything had this horrible after taste except for the chicken which had no flavor at all. I'm not a big beer drinker but my husband said that the potatoes soaked up all the hopps and that was really the only thing he could taste. I'm not even going to try and "fix" this recipe; it's out!

Excellent. Easy and very flavorful. Used thick smoked bacon and Dijon mustard. Will definitely be making this again.

I used maple flavored bacon, honey dijon mustard and added more potatos and carrots as suggested and it turned out very well. Thanks for all the suggestions of the reviewers, you taught me not to be afraid to use alternative ingredients.
