Yummy! Reminded me of beanie weinies, just like my mommy would make me when I was a kid!

This recipe is basically the best pork and beans that you could ever imagine! I'm not sure if it is supposed to be cooked the way it's described for a reason, but I would make two revisions:

    1. Cook the bacon by itself, then remove and let dry out on a paper towel (this makes it extra crispy. Then cook the onions in the bacon grease and proceed and usual. Add the bacon back in at the end just before serving.

    2. Cook the dogs separately on the grill to get a good grill mark and that little bit of a crunch on the skin (drool. Then add the topping on it like you would chili.

With those two revisions, this is a 5.5 star!!

Tasty! I really liked the recipe for the sauce. It was so simple. I put it on a grilled hotdog just like you would chili instead of simmering the hotdogs in the sauce. No problem with the dog being hot enough. When my sauce got too thick because we had to wait for our company to arrive, I just added a little more water to it.

I like hot dogs occasionally and wanted to try this. I'm glad I did! This is a quick and tasty recipe. The bean filling is good for about 4-6 hot dogs depending on how much of the bean filling you like. I used four hot dogs and liberally applied the filling. There was a bit left over for one more.

If I were to change anything, I might heat the hot dogs in water before letting them simmer with the bean filling. I found the hot dogs to be warm, but not hot when just simmered with the mixture. The reason is the sauce thickens fast, which doesn't allow the hot dogs time to get really hot. It was okay because the bean mixture was hot enough so it balanced out, but it is something to keep in mind the next time I make this....and I will be making this again.

I love this recipe. I've done this recipe several times and everytime I do everyone loves it. It's real easy and doesn't take that long to put together. I do add about 3 tablespoons of bbq sauce just to add a little something extra.
