I totally agree with the reviewer before me...the praline top was too heavy and the cake didn't have much flavor. Good thing nutmeg was added or the cake wouldn't have ANY flavor! I also bake lots of cake but this one "didn't take the cake!"

Preparation is simple, but the result is awful. The praline top is way too heavy for the cake. It was really gooey for my taste. The cake crumbled down completely ! And had no real flavor to it. I make cakes, but wanted to try this recipe since it sounded delicious. Not doing it again !

It took 1.5 hours to reach doneness in my oven. The finished product was disappointing. The cake part was soft but not as flavorful as I would have liked. The topping was too heavy on pecans. Won't be making it again.

The flavor was good, but my cake looked nothing like the one in the picture. The only difference I made was putting the cake in a 9" cast iron skillet. The praline sauce must've gone into the cake, because when I flipped it over the cake looked really dark. The praline sauce was a bit too sticky for me, but the cake part was wonderful!!

Made this for Easter dinner and it was a huge hit. I loved this - it was very different and not too sweet. Best warmed up with vanilla ice cream. The only change I had to make was substituting the bourbon with whiskey because we didn't have any. But the flavor of the alcohol isn't strong at all, so it didn't seem to affect the outcome of the cake. Definitely a keeper.

Some friends and I cook for special church events and at our church auction we had a Mardi Gras theme this year. After our gumbo, potato salad, and green bean, beet & onion salad, we topped off our meal with this marvelous cake! it is so gooey & good! I have been referring people to the link for this recipe ever since because it is so frequently requested.
