    Like Starks I too ended with rock candy but I did not add milk too soon.All I had to do was start cooking a little longer and added a little more cream.Worked out beautifully.I poured over a rich chocolate tart that I had made.Very good and fattening.

    This is wonderful. Subtle caramel flavor with chocolate (I used dark so it was extra rich... is there anything better?

    Don't be a fool like I was and add the cream too quickly...You end up with something resembling rock candy floating in cream. It was fixable and worth the effort but took a lot more time and patience. The end result was fabulous, though.
