For my Dear Friend,Oh will she enjoy this! Of course the facsimile of a "Carrot".It is not meant to be a true carrot. Love the idea/design. Plan on preparing this for Her Birthday w/My Signature Buttercream Froasting underneath.I can feel like a Cake Designer and Absolutely Not! A "presto~chango" Moment.

We loved making this! We could not find just green straws either so we used green apple licorice and green rock candy sticks. (We just snipped off the balls at the end of the stick with garden shears. Instead of jelly beans we used orange M&Ms. (3 bags of the single color type I torted the cake and added a chocolate ganache to the center, which we flavored with some orange essence. A little more orange flavoring was added to simple syrup and brushed over the cake prior to frosting. My five year old and I had a great time doing this together. Once the shape was cut and assembled, he was able to help with all the rest. Our family is going to LOVE it.

Very easy and looks like much more work than it really was. I substituted Reese's pieces instead of Jelly Beans and Edible Easter Grass because I could not find just plain green sour straws.

So easy, so fun and what a great impact. My 11 year old son and I made this and will bring it to my Grandmother -in-law's on Easter Sunday - I know she'll love the whimsy of it. Great idea Food Network!

On the sour straws you can locate them in the candy isle next to all the other sour items there. They come in Green, Blue, Red. I dont eat them (only on dares but I often locate everything I need at one store. Its a good thing that the jelly beans are in bulk.
I will be making this cake this weekend and teaching my daughter how to do this as well (we will be using a regular cake and build it up like the height we want to do. Recipes are only used as a guide, I seldom follow them to the tee.

I made this cake for my daughter's birthday party. It was very easy to make. It looked as if I slaved over this cake when it actually only took me an hour to make! The only problem I ran into was finding sour straws. I searched and searched and couldn't find them anywhere. So, I found edible Easter grass and used that instead. This cake was a big hit!
