This recipe was really quick to make, but for me & my husband, we felt it was missing something.....more pizazz.....I feel it needs some sort of different spice, but I'm not sure what..a little dash of something spicy or hot. May have been my ham, but would omit the salt next time. The sauce thickened nicely as we were stetting the table..that was no problem. Not sure I would make it again

I made this for me and my kids and found that this dish had a lot of flavor, filling and so yummy. And it definitely is a keeper since my son is not a big ham fan and still downed his whole dinner. I did add shredded carrots for a little more veggie intake and just gruyer cheese. Might try a mix of gruyer and swiss next time to see what flavors could come out of this. Will be making this again and again. Thanks for a quick and tasty dinner. So good.

This probably replace my mac&cheese recipe. I love the broccoli and pre-cooked carrot theme( my choice. Ham and Bacon were tasty. I used Ementhaler as well as swiss and it was topped with a mixture of sliced toasted almonds and buttered bread crumbs. It disappeared really fast.

This was a great recipe! I used a ham steak & roasted vegetable-flavored chicken broth & swiss cheese. It is a great base - like the other reviews below stated - you can substitute veggies & meats & cheeses to customize to your own favorite flavors.

Great recipe. I replaced the ham with bacon and peas with broccoli. My sauce was not thin at all because it cooled and thickened while I heated the broiler. I would make this again.

This was very good! I used chicken and broccoli instead of ham and peas. I was out of ham :-(
I like the technique of cooking the gnocchi and everything together in one pot. This was great quick meal, I had dinner made from start to finish in 20 minutes. Probably would have been faster if I had used ham since I had to cook the chicken.

I made this yesterday, and it was SO GOOD! I switched up a few things: added a little over a cup of california mix veggies (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli also, I stirred some cheese into the casserole before it went into the oven...I think it helped thicken the cream sauce a little bit. And I used a little bit of swiss and cheddar, but mostly gruyere (haha, i'm from wisconsin!! also, I baked it for 5-10 minutes and THEN broiled it. Seriously so yummy. A perfect, easy dish to make on a gray, cold, crummy day.

This dish was very good. Well on its way to becoming a repeated recipe for comfort food in my kitchen. My 14-year old loved it. (I'm always looking for dishes high in calcium on advice of her pediatrician.
I liked that I could make it in one pot. I purchased all of the ingredients at Trader Joes for $10! I used a whole bag of peas, not just a cup. I added their fried onions that are only available during the holidays as a topping with some bread crumbs as a crust. You can improvise on this recipe and add more veggies, like the previous reviewer wrote, as it will accept more flavor easily. I added a little nutmeg while browning the onion and sprinkled in some smoked paprika. I recommend being patient and really letting the ham and onion at the beginning brown.

As usual, I will cook this again trying different ingredients, namely the cheese, as I don't love Swiss, but it does work here. Sending leftovers for lunch!

It was good. Next time I will add more veggies, possibly red pepper or shredded carrots.
