These were very tasty but the presentation was not so great. When I tried to cut the bars the topping just cracked and the middle squished out. I would make the topping more frosting like so they would cut evenly.

Took these to a party and overheard someone say "try those, they are to die for". Two hints, score the top of the bars slightly to show your cutting lines, then put the nicest looking bits of candy between the lines--will make cutting much easier. You only need a few pieces of candy per bar. They are very rich, so cut small. Also, use the best quality chocolate you can find.

I liked this, and it was very rich. The crust crumbled more than when Ive made a full cheesecake.
I think Ill drizzle butter on the top then bake it and maybe a bit longer than 15 minutes. Did anyone run into this and have any ideas how to prevent this?

I made these to take to a Christmas party. I was afraid they would be too rich -I'm not a fan of a lot of chocolate. The mint offset that rich chocolate flavor wonderfully. These were a BIG hit.
Next time I'll use less peppermint on top. I used the full 1/2 cup of crushed peppermint and the result was a hard candy shell on top. Tasted great but made it hard to cut. Next time I'll use less to make the cutting easier.

These were excellent. I was a little hesitant about the crushed candycanes, since not everyone is a fan, but they were just fine. A nice minty touch and festive presentation.I don't believe they are absolutely necessary to the recipe if you prefer to leave them out though. The recipe was simple and I appreciated being able to make them in advance.
