Delicious! Used Ghirardelli 60% chocolate chips from regular grocery store. I froze the pie slices after I inserted the stick for about 2 hours, instead of just 1, and they held up fine when dunking. My kids and I loved them!

I made this yummy dessert and got rave reviews. Had no problem with the chocolate. It was so popular with my family I am getting request they want this instead of birthday cake. Can't wait to make it again.

You are right you need to add some shortening to the chocolate chips to make it more dip-able. See a basic cookbook to figure out a good ratio and other combinations to make a chocolate coating.

Ok, I feel like something was missing here. The chocolate mixture was SO thick that I lost the pie piece while dipping. I also was not able to use an immersion blender like the recipe suggested. It instantly got too gummed up to do anything. It sounds like a super yummy idea but the chocolate needs to be thinner.
