I made these for my daughter and you would have thought I walked on water......She absolutely LOVED them. I did not have any problems with the strawberry swiveling on the stick. To avoid this from happening, insert the skewer just off to the side of the middle, and continue inserting at a slight angle; this method will avoid the natural "core" in the middle of the strawberry.

I decided to try this last minute, I forgot to buy the sticks, so I used a fork to dip the strawberries in the batter, and t\hen let them fry after following the directions. My strawberries were perfect!

I don't know why everyone had such hard time or difficult experience with this!!!!! I made it for my New Years eve party and they turned out great! I will say that some of the strawberries (3 out of 30 didn't stick to the stick so I made them just plain chocolate covered strawberries... And I used actual waffle mix. I did fry them at a hotter temperature for a minute long! No soggy waffle and the chocolate was perfect! They were A HUGE hit! I'm glad I chose to still make them after reading the discouraging reviews!!!!

I made the mistake of trying to make this as a dessert for a family party as a cute and easy to eat dessert. I wish I would have NEVER found it!
If you really hull your strawberries like it says, there isn't much for the skewers to hold onto, so they slide around or fall off, no matter how long you freeze them for. Once it came to deep frying them I could not get the batter to FULLY cook around the chocolate part. It'd be cooked almost all the way through except where it was right up against the chocolate where the batter was still runny. I even tried re-frying them TWO MORE TIMES and it didn't help with the batter.
Will NEVER make this again and don't suggest anybody else does. Save yourself the frustration. So disappointed; it sounded SO good!

It was a little hard to keep the skewers in the strawberry. Other than that it was very easy.
