When I made these this week I didn't have oranges on hand but I did have lemons. I used the lemon zest and event a squirt or two of lemon juice and they turned out delicious. I'm sure they would be just as good with orange but these cookies are the new rage in my household. I also used twice as much vanilla extract. Yummy!!! When you're mixing the batter before putting it in the fridge it does look like its going to be dry, but after the chill time in the fridge it's just the perfect texture. I sprinkled them with rock sugar and they were really cute and even cut some into different shapes.

I loved this recipe. I did not have any zest, and I teaspoon almond extract and about 1/4 vanilla. I will try chilling longer and roll out and cut next time. We frosted them and then did the sugar sprinkles. I did with my 6 yr old twin nieces and the whole family was saying yum yum.

I just self rising flour instead and didn't use the salt or power came out great i didn't have any zest. i added 1/2 cup coco power to cheat to make a great batch of chocolate cookies they came out dry but with a little milk to the batch it came out better, the chips would have made them even better but i just used what i had. Very good easy homemade cookies to teach my 8yr old how to make them. I loved the fact we already had the ingredients in the house and how quick they are to make

Belinda- if they're adding salt to the baking recipe in particular, they usually want unsalted butter I find.

We loved this recipe, it was very simple to complete, especially if you are low on time. We were very impatient and instead of refrigerating the dough for 30 minutes we popped it in the freezer for 7 and it worked perfectly.
We would definitely recommend this recipe for parents who want to start teaching their kids the basics. And there's no better way to end "class" than with delicious warm cookies! =

Easy to make. Chilling dough helped with creating the cookie balls. Baked for 15 minutes, rotating the cookie sheet once at the half way point. Not very large in size - about 2+ inches across. Made about 40 at the Tbl. size ball of dough. Didn't spread much. Mild in taste. More crisp than soft and chewy. Overall a good solid base for other cookies or sugar cookie recipe.

This is by far the best and easiest sugar cookies recipe we have tried on any site so far. The recipe was DELICIOSE and very simple and fast to prepare. The plus was adding the orange zest for that slight hint of citrus flavor that is just fantastic. You just can't go wrong with this one it's great recipe especially for those first timers. IT'S DEFINITLY A KEEPER !

I loved this recipe! They definitely do not take more than 10 minutes to bake. ...I really like the idea of using orange zest, as it gives the cookies a great flavor!
