SaRaH420, It says dredge in flour and then the batter. This helps the batter stick better to the dog. Alton dredges in cornstarch, then batter. Love corn dogs!!

This recipe says to dredge in the flour and then in the oil. What it fails to mention is that you need to mix your flour mixture with the wet mixture to make the batter. Overall it was ok, I didn't care for the batter.

My kids & I thought these were pretty good. I realised as I went to make them that I didn't have cornmeal but cornflour. After scouring the cupboards, I found a bag of natural tortilla chips so I crushed those finely and used that instead of cornmeal. It worked! I would say that next time I'll double the mix & put it in a flat dish so I can roll the hotdogs easier and not lose much of the coating. As written, it made about 8 corndogs for us.

I used a jumbo frank, next time regular frank or turkey frank and I will add a little more sugar than a pinch.
