I'm not a fan of tomato soup but when I made this for my wife it became one of my favorite soups.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this soup! I add a bit of dried basil to the soup as it cooks, but other than that, follow the recipe to a T! Great - and worth the effort of straining for a nice silky finish. Have shared with many friends!

I love this recipe. I took the advice of adding half a can of tomato paste. I only use Contadina brand so I cannot vouch for all tomato pastes. I left out the cream and never missed it. This is an excellent recipe. You cannot possibly be disappointed with your results.

Very yummy and comforting on a blizzard day like today. I did add some tomato paste and I am glad I did. Will be one I make again and again!

this was a very delicious and comforting soup! although i will agree with other reviews. definitely need to cut the flour by half and add half a small can of tomato paste to really bring out the tomato taste. but other that, this will definitely take over canned tomato soup for sure. yum!

This is an easy 5 star. The bouquet garni flavors come out strong and the tomatoes are well tempered by the veggies and creme. Had it with some grilled cheese... it was heaven.

Made this tonight. If you are looking for that canned tomato soup taste that you grew up with as a kid, this isn't it! It's more of a herby, fresh tomato taste. I actually added just a bit of sugar to it to cut the bitterness from the tomatoes. I also added a dash of cayenne, red pepper flakes and basil. Didn't have time to fry the bacon but it was fine without it. But I bet it's really good with it! Perfect for a rainy night such as tonight!
