I was searching FN and came across this recipe. For 2012 I decided to start preparing as much of my food as possible, to cut out a lot of prepared foods and preservatives, eat a lot healthier and to just save some money on food. I work from home and it's just me now, the kids are all grown up and on their own, I really wish I would have done things like this years ago. I have not made them yet but have read the reviews and it sounds like it will be very tasty, I look forward to putting a batch together and will keep all of your suggestions in mind. I had to give a rating before saving but I believe they will be worth the 4 stars!!

Substituted regular oats for quick cook, dates for figs (couldn't find them in store and hand-chopped almonds for walnuts. Froze them individually. At first the family was "eh" (dad & two teen girls, but they liked the health benefit and ate them all week. Very versatile. Now they're asking for more, with dried cranberries and a few mini dark chocolate chips. Making a double batch this time!

Very, very good. I used fresh figs cut into small pieces and stirred in after everything was combined.
Much better than any energy bar you could buy at the store.

These bars are pretty tasty and nutritious so I will be making them again. I plan to add the walnuts after processing so the bars are a little crunchier. I'd also like to add some dried cranberries to punch up the flavor a bit.

I have been given fesh figs and have been just eating them. I can't complain about that, but I wanted to make fig bars and found this recipe. How could I adapt this recipe to use fresh figs? I gave it a four stars because it sounds good and I will try it with dried figs when the fesh are gone.

I have just discovered dried figs prior to using this recipe. THis is a great bar and very tasty and moist. My staff loved them. I have to half the recipe unfortunately, because my food processor is too small!

I love these bars and whenever I have someone over to visit I make them and everyone loves them too. They are good as a snack or even for breakfast with a cup of tea. Knowing they are healthy is a plus!

I just love this recipe and always make sure we have a stash on hand. I had been purchasing different energy bars at the grocery store for several years and when I came across this recipe, I thought I'd give it a try. SO glad I did! It's easy and obviously you know what's in it which makes it much healthier. Sometimes I add dried cherries or cranberries and I always add wheat germ. It's great to grab a bar on the go. We always freeze them, but they're gone so fast, there's really no need! Next time I'm going to try Whey Protien instead of the milk. Definitely a keeper!
