These were not too complicated to make, and they turned out wonderfully. They're crisp and have a nice, delicate flavor, and have remained crisp all week (I've kept them stored in a tightly-sealed plastic container, in layers separated by parchment paper. Lost a star because they are very oily! So keep lots of napkins on hand when you've got these out for guests.

Last night I made 5 kinds of Christmas cookies, and by far, the Florentines were the best. It got a 5 star rating from my husband of 37 years who is a terrific judge of good cookies! I told my daughter she has to make them for her work party and I know I am making more of these. Thanks again.

I took these crispy, delicious cookies to a party and they were a hit. The crunch was quite addictive!

    Some suggestions:
Cool the cookies on a paper towel or the cookies can feel a bit oily

Form all of the dough balls at the same time and while the dough is still warm

I don't own a food processor - my blender worked just fine!

These cookies were so easy to make! The orange flavor was wonderful, and the texture was AWESOME. But . . . the almond flavor was not very strong, and the biggest taste (especially as aftertaste was just sugar--the biggest ingredient in these cookies. Any advice on boosting the almond flavor and decreasing the overwhelming sweetness?

I put chocolate on a few, but that drowned out the almond flavor even more, and even hid the orange flavor. I thought they were close to perfect without it . . . just not quite perfect (yet.

These are great as is.... I didn't make any alterations and they really don't need it. I definitely recommend the chocolate drizzle though. The chocolate and orange combination is great.

These cookies came out just as good as the ones they make in the Italian bakery in my town. A few notes from my experience in baking them. The almond mixture is pretty crumbly after cooling, but don't worry, it doesn't effect how they come out after cooking in the oven. Also either make very small balls or plan on giving each cookie a lot of space, as these will spread out quite a bit. Right out of the oven these are a bit chewy, but given a day they're crunchy and delicious. If definitely adding these to my holiday cookie repertoire!

So easy, so good. Had to put them out of sight or they wouldn't have lasted overnight. Saving this one for sure.

I was a little worried since all my almonds were toasted, but still turned out delicious. The chocolate topping is a must. First time I have used orange zest in Florentines, but will make these for now on for Christmas. The chocolate and orange flavors with the toasted almonds is fantastic. I thought this was a fairly easy recipe too. But be too concerned if the cookies don't spread until the last minute of baking.

Not enough flavor. Needs more texture and just something else, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I just didn't really like these cookies. More like candy, but they break too easy and crumble.

Recipe indicates that these can be made 3 days ahead. Has anyone tried keeping them longer?
