This is an excellent salad. I make it every couple of months. I will have to try both adding hamburger and using tater tots. That said, this is a great mix of flavors as it stands. (But yes, save adding the fries until the last minute.

Have made this several times. Definitely add the fries at the end, or use tater tots like crutons, and leave them on the table. I also add browned ground beef to the recipe, and call it a cheeseburger salad.

Made this at my friend's cabin this weekend and everyone raved! Definitely don't add the fries until the last minute.

Made this for dinner because it sounded so unusual and boy was it yummy! It was almost like eating a burger. I cooked my fries a little long so they would be crisp and didn't toss items with the dressing until just before serving.

I made this for my family last night, just as written, and it was really really tasty. I save 5-star reviews for the really sublime, but I will definitely make this again. Note: as soon as you toss the french fries in the salad w/ the dressing they become soggy, so next time I'm going to sprinkle them on top more like croutons just to see if the texture provides a contrast to the rest of the salad ... we'll see. I can see myself making this every 2-3 weeks in the summer.

Love, love, loved this salad. I didn't follow the recipe all that closely, and my ratios were off, too much onion, too much vinegar, not enough lettuce, but that's my own fault. The salad dressing of hamburger condiments was a great idea, and I loved the French fries in the salad. My fiancée thought it was going to be weird, but he loved it.
