Directions

Halve 2 cups fresh figs and place in a small pot with 2 strips lemon zest and 2 tablespoons each red wine, water and brown sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the figs are soft, 20 to 25 minutes.

    I followed the recipe to a T. However, after 20-25 minutes the figs were soft but they were definitely not "glazed." I wonder if the recipe meant that you should "simmer," not just cook, the figs on low heat for 20-25 minutes. Also, they tasted nice right after I made them, but after I refrigerated them and brought them to room temperature the next day, they tasted like those cola flavored gummy candies.
