This was amazingly tasty but I had a few problems. I think the sauce was too watery and I didn't even add the full two cups of water, next time I wouldn't add any water. The water from the tomatoes and the wine is enough. I tried to cook it longer to cook off the excess liquid but that didn't really work.

We did make the gnocchi from scratch and it was very easy, however, the gnocchi did not hold together well once it hit the boiling water. Next time I will make the pieces smaller and cook them longer.

We used baby bella mushrooms and portobello mushrooms. The store had no cremini. I think "Wild mushrooms" is a pretty vague term. San Marzano tomatoes were very expensive, so I wonder if you can just use whole canned regular tomatoes?

My husband and I made this for my mom and stepdad and we loved it. We made a few changes because our grocery store doesn't offer wild mushrooms and we are on a budget. We actually substituted the wild mushrooms for canned mushrooms and they were perfect and didn't need to be sauted. Also, I hate full tomatoes in my sauce so we used a tomato puree and that worked great too!!!!! One last thing, we added garlic because we love garlic!!! But everything turned out fantastic!!!! I would recommend this dish even though it is a time consuming process.

Made this last night with my 9 year-old daughter and the whole family loved it. I would cut the pasta into smaller pieces next time, but otherwise, a delicious meal and the gnocchi wasn't hard to make at all.

Do you know how much 2 lbs. of wild mushrooms cost?!! haha this dish was pretty expensive and time consuming (I went to 4 grocery stores searching for them! but I gotta say, everyone loved it and nothing was left over. I made the gnocchi from scratch too, although I did use dry potato flakes to make 2 lbs. of mashed potatoes. Also, instead of just 1 cup of tomatoes, I ended up dumping the whole can of tomatoes in the pot since I didn't want to waste the rest, and it was fine. Definitely save this for a weekend or day off if you plan to make it. Buying the gnocchi will save you some time too.
