We made a couple changes - wrapped the shrimp with bacon and added a little sesame oil to the marinade. This recipe also works good with chicken. We cooked both.

I just hated this recipe. Way too much tang without any other flavors to back it up. If a tangy dish can be bland, then that is exactly what this dish was.

Such a simple and flavorful recipe! I'm a huge fan of fish sauce and this recipe nailed all ingredients to make a delicious dish. I think next time I'll try it with chicken :

Unfortunately this recipe was a real disappointment. I followed the directions exactly, but found the noodles to be rubbery and the fish sauce was incredibly overpowering and didn't compliment the lime juice well at all. This was my first encounter with fish sauce, so perhaps if one likes fish sauce, this recipe could be appealing.

I added 5 more garlic heads and two shallots. Only about a scant 1/2 C brown sugar because others said, same fish sauce and lime amounts and sirracha. I also did this with equal amounts of chicken pieces and pork strips in the marinade. I stir fried the meats together, not grilled. Then, stir fried the veggies-you can modify or add your own favorites, obviously. I rough chopped half a white onion with the carrots and asparagus. Red bell pepper would go great, also.
Then, I re-added the meats, served over the noodles. I only put the noodles in boiling water for about 10-12 mins. off the heat. Did not stir fry them.
I'm not sure why others are saying it's a disappointing recipe or that the taste wasn't there.
If you don't like Thai flavors-Sour, Sweet, Hot!-then just don't make this.
My two teens loved it. I saved this recipe and will make it again and again.

This dish was ok. Not the wow I was expecting. The picture looks like the dish would be delicious. One of my sons liked the flavor, while the other one wouldn't even touch it. Not sure if I am going to take my time to prepare this dish again. Very disappointed.

This was a very good change from our standard dinner fare. I only put in 1/4 cup fish sauce, and it was too fishy, so I added 1 tsp hoisin sauce, as someone else recommended. I also stir-fried the chicken and veggies instead of grilling them. I added broccoli, grean beans, and topped with bean sprouts in addition to everything the recipe lists.
Very good, and will make again.

So I'm a huge foodie and love to experiment with my cooking. I'm rating this recipe 5 stars because of the version I made. I added hoisin sauce just to add to the sweetness and saltiness too. I added about 2-3 tablespoons of the hoisin sauce and it came out great! I will admit that I added water to the recipe too and realized it just watered the flavor down and I love intense flavor. So next time I think I'll omit the water but make enough marinade for the shrimp and veggies.... also when making this for others I tone down on the sriracha sauce and put it on the table for people to add more if they like. Also for the veggies I just used whatever was fresh at the asian market. I shredded some bok choy, shiitakes and snap peas and cooked the veggies just until they were cooked but still had a crispness to the snap peas. The crunchiness of the snap peas was a great contrast to the noodles & shrimp. Needless to say, definitely making this again!!!

This Asian dish was quite easy to prepare. My child disliked the flavor of the noodles, he said it tasted to sweet, but the shrimp and the veggies tasted AMAZING!!! To solve the problem we incorparated soy sauce and hot chili sauce. This recipe is sure a recipe we will make again.
