We love these cookies. The lime is the best, but I do occasionally make the lemon or orange. I agree with other reviews that the icing make these cookies too sweet. I just sprinkle on the decorative sugar (green for lime, orange for the orange flavor, and yellow for the lemon. The sugar gives a nice appearance, but does not make the cookies too sweet.

My family loves these cookies. The only change I will make will be a thinner, less sweet, less colorful icing. Thanks for the recipe :

After reading the reviews on this cookie, I decided to try them. I used fresh juice instead of extracts in the cookie, which I'll increase by 1/2 tsp next time. I also agree that the icing is a little too sweet. Instead of using the colored sugar, I'll use the powdered food coloring. I made the lemon with Meyer lemons, I made the orange with clementines and then the lime. My favorite is the lime and my husband loves the orange. Can't wait to share them with the rest of the family tomorrow! This recipe is definately a keeper in my book. Love the convenience of making the dough ahead of time and freezing.

These cookies are excellent!! Best non chocolate cookie I ever tasted! My 6 yr old son loves them! I cut the size of the cookies in half and adjusted the baking time (8 - 10 minutes to make little hands size. Different look, different taste, still wonderful! Thanks Food Network!! I rate these a 10!!!! I also used fresh juice instead of the extract since I didn't have the extract.

An absolute hit!! My family loves these cookies. I made mine with lemons from my backyard and they came out delicious. Very easy to make.

I like to do these with grapefruit or blood oranges, but love when I do the lime. Enjoy!

I sampled three new recipes this year (including Land O' Lakes Peppermint Meltaways and Ginger Cookies, and this recipe is a keeper. These cookies balance-out a sweets tray nicely because they're tender and light both in texture and flavor. They're a true hit for non-chocolate lovers (like my husband. No changes to the recipe; ignore the nay-sayers. I cooked these in a standard gas oven and shortened the cooking time by one minute to keep them light on top and slightly browned on the bottom as the recipe directs.

    You've gotta try these!

I have made this recipe over and over since I found it a couple years ago. It gets made every Christmas for my family, and also for any cookie party or potluck around holiday-time. The cookies turn out beautifully every time, the icing is the perfect complement to the cookie, and the taste and texture are perfect (slightly crispy on the outside and chewy and lemony on the inside. I receive compliments every time -- it's always a cookie that stands out, not merely because of its appearance but because of its taste as well. An outstanding cookie recipe doesn't come along very often, but for me this is one to keep and pass down.

These cookies are great. The recipe is easy and it worked exactly as it was written. No changes are needed. The cookies have a wonderful lemon flavor and the icing adds the right amount of sweetness. They are moist and store well for up to one week. Everyone went back for multiple helpings. My brother could not get enough of these cookies. This is a recipe you need to add to your list of cookie recipes.

My favorite version of this cookie is the lime one. My only complaint was it didn/t make enough so I doubled the recipe, using 1 whole egg plus 1 egg yolk. I agree you do need to increase the quanty of the icing. I have won prizes at the Iowa State fair for the past two years using this recipe. I have made them frosted, unfrosted, lime, orange and lemon and every version has won something. Everyone I make them for loves them.
