This is an absolutely fabulous soup. So flavorful and chunky. And only 8 points plus for weight watchers. Will definitely make again.

Bummer - something went wrong with this recipe. It had a very bitter aftertaste. I've reviewed it so see what I could have missed, and there's nothing. I even scrubbed down the clams before cooking them. Wish it could have tasted better!

Really delicious and easy. Could not find fresh clams so used canned and it was still fantastic. To make up for the clam 'stock' I used bottled clam juice. I agree with another reviewer that the bacon adds a nice smokiness and should not be left out. I did, however, skip the butter and it was not missed. I would recommend adding a few more potatoes, incidentally they don't need to be peeled. Fabulous lighter version of this usually heavy chowder.

This was so easy to make and really good! I checked around for clams but was unable to find any at any of the stores nearby, so I substituted with sea scallops and chopped them up just as you would the clams. It turned out perfectly and I look forward to trying it again with actual clams.

Me and my husband made this recipe last week - it's amazing! I'm a New England native, so it had some tough competition. The pureed potatoes keep this from being a clear chowder and also bulk it up for those who love the thick creamy-ness of the traditional.

We added a few extra potatoes, and used Mahagoany clams because they were cheap. Instead of following the first few steps, we shucked all of the 8 pounds of clams first (we doubled the recipe, and then added to the soup once it had come together. The juice from the fresh clams is so much that you don't need any from a bottle.

One thing that NEEDS to be part of this to get closer to the real thing : FRESH DILL, thats the kicker!

So easy to make and absolutely delicious. I have made a couple times now and experimented a little. If you don't want to bother with fresh clams I did 5 cans chopped clams, I use three potatoes, and omit the butter. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

I thought this was delicious and very easy to make. Rather than using clams I used shrimp instead. Given I didn't have the 'clam broth' I used chicken broth and just added the shrimp at the end. It had a wonderful smokey flavor from the bacon. The only thing I might do next time is make a roux after I've sauteed the veggies so it's a bit thicker. I served it with some crusty bread and it was a hit - even with my 3 yr old! I'll definitely make this again very soon and will be a regular in our kitchen!
