I made this for a co-workers birthday at her request. Holy butter! The overall reviews were good though. I could not find maple sugar in any grocery store and did not have time to order it online. Googled walnuts in syrup and found in Krogers made by Smuckers. Emptied both jars in a strainer with bowl and let drain all day. That was not going to be a quick process to separate those two. Outside of using regular sugar, I followed the recipe to a tee. The frosting does break down and looks curdled but turned out fine. Definitely make sure the cake is cooled. With all that butter in the frosting, it will be a sloppy mess!
