    The flavor was decent but not great. Also, the consistency was off. I followed the recipe exactly. It took longer than 30 minutes to bake (more like 50 min and think it would've baked better in a 9 inch square pan. I usually love the recipes from this site but I won't be making this cake again.

    I followed the recipe mostly- I did substitute applesauce for the canola oil, added lemon zest (because I can't let a good zest go! and I ended up putting a mix of semolina flour and polenta flour in and it just added to the consistancy. It was quick and light and even the syrup that you make at the end was easy to make. This cake would be perfect for the spring/summer months along side a great vanilla bean ice cream.
