Good recipe, use often with some adds:
1 TBS cocoa powder
1/4 cub frozen blue berries
Instead of the Maple Syrup add a 1 to 2 tsp of Maple Sugar
With a 1/2 cub of Greek Yogurt you have a balanced breakfast in under 10 minutes.

This one is kind of bland. I was hoping for delicious from the reviews, but it's edible. I doubled the cinnamon and almost doubled the maple syrup, and still didn't find that it had much flavour. I did use a Granny Smith apple, though, so maybe the sweetness that's missing is from not using a Mac. It was notably better after adding a little milk at the end though. In all fairness, this is the first time I've had oatmeal in I-don't-know-how-many-years, and I think I stopped eating it because it just wasn't my favourite. I always preferred the Quaker Apples-and-Cinnamon variety, so I'll keep looking for another recipe.

I've tried to detach my bf from eating the UN-healthy oatmeal in the packets thats loaded with sodium and sugar, he loves this more than those now! It's so simple but very tasty and filling and its cooked in the microwave! I made some minor changes though but know it would have tasted great with the original recipe. I only had fuji apples (bf's fav. and doubled the cinnamon. I added Truvia sweetener ...YUMMY! (1 -2 pks depending on the sweetness of the apple Now that I have a base recipe, thanks to Ellie... I'd like to figure out how to use the "steel cut oats" since it has a very low glycemic for diabetics than regular oats. WE BOTH love this recipe!
If you decide to use Truvia, it's 2 1/2 tsp sugar to 1 tsp Truvia. So much healthier for you than the artifical sweetners.

Sliced bananas and a scoop of peanut butter are great additions. I also like to throw in fresh or frozen berries. Makes for a great post-workout meal.

The flavor was quite bland. This needed to be sweeter for my taste. I found that I needed to use a much bigger bowl to prevent the oatmeal from overflowing. Will probably try again, using more sweetener.

It cooks up fast and tastes great. I add a little flaxseed meal (you don't even notice it in the finished product and I like to use dried cherries. A good option for breakfast.

I haven't eaten oatmeal since I was a kid. I ran across this recipe and decided to try it on my kids. My 8 yr old had two helpings (w/out the nuts. I didn't have the maple syrup so I used a little honey and then some brown sugar. I really liked the touch of the apples and nuts. I will definately make it again!
