This is without a doubt the best steak recipe I've ever made. Please note, though, that when Tyler made this on the show, he said NOT to put oil in the skillet, but to drizzle olive oil on the STEAK, then to salt and pepper it. When the DRY skillet smokes, add the steak, and continue with the recipe as presented on the website. GOOD eats!!

I don't know why I never noticed other TV chefs teaching the method of pan-searing followed by oven roasting, but Tyler uses it frequently and I have followed it with great results on chicken and lamb as well as beef. (Can't see why it wouldn't work on pork, too. It always produces a flavorful exterior and a tender, juicy interior. Something so simple and logical has become a breakthrough in my success around the stove! Thanks, TF!

This is the best way I have found to cook steak.I actually think it tastes better than grilled steak.I had to use strip steak because that is what was on sale at the time.I just adjusted the time a little.I also put some extra seasoning on them.Yummy! Thanks for the recipe.

Tyler said that you would never need another steak recipe again. He was right. The ease of the preparation is great for the beginner cook and the taste is to die for. Be sure to let the meat collect itself. I had a very juicy and tender piece of steak. Can't wait to use this recipe again.

I was pleasantly surprised with all of the flavor bursting out of this steak. The fact that I did not have to grill to get it scores major points with me. The steak was absolutely delicious. It was not dry but, juicy and flavorful in every bite. A definite keeper!! Way to go Tyler

This steak had fabulous flavor, with no grill!! And it was perfectly cooked ... medium rare ... as we like it. When you live in Michigan it's good to have recipes like this one.
