Very chewy, like 3 day old bacon. Yummy. I also enjoy sticks of butter wrapped in bacon.

Nice & chewy. I added wheat germ, toast my oats & nuts first. Varieties are endless. Just keep prportions the same.
Start checking them after 30 min for sure. I found that the pan size was too big & the cook time too long. I also only used about 2/3 of the stick of butter-turned out great. I've made them 3x now. My new fav!!!

I added some other items such as honey roasted peanuts instead of raw, and cranberries. But when I baked the bars for forty minutes they turned out burnt. The only person who actually ate them was my older brother

This recipe is easy and the possibles are endless. I made one batch with banana chips, semisweet chocolate, coconut flakes and dried cranberries. Another one that was cashews, peanuts, raisins and semisweet chocolate. Tonight im making a peanut butter and "jelly" (mixed dried berries granola bars. Yummy. I'm so glad that I found this recipe.

These come out great and they're so easy to make. I read the reviews and also used smart balance instead of butter and fat free condensed milk. I also threw in some extra peanuts and instead of just raisins, I added half cranberries and half raisins. I even added a handful f chocolate chips so that my kids would eat them! Delicious!

I've tried a few different granola bar recipes and both my husband and I enjoyed these best. Very tasty at only about 90 calories per bar. I did use dried cranberries instead of raisins, fat free condensed milk, and smart balance light spread. I don't think it compromised the taste or texture.

These tasty granola bars were a big hit with my husband and co workers. I added the recipe to my recipe box and will be making them on a regular basis! I did not have regular sweetened condensed milk so I had to use the fat free I had in the pantry but the bars turned out wonderful! I did bake the bars for 40 minutes and they came out great!

The recipe is very easy, using ingredients you probably already have in the pantry. With this recipe we'll never go back to buying from the store -- not only do they taste better, but they're cheaper and you can cut to size. We eat granola bars as meal replacements so I cut them into larger bars big enough to fit a snack sized zip top bag. I substituted the 1 cup of raisins with dried cranberries and chocolate chips to equal 1 cup. I'm planning more substitutions. The variety is endless. For cooking time, my oven is weird anyway so I have to keep on eye on things regardless of what a recipe says. About the 30 minute mark things began to smell like cooked oats but still not quite golden brown. I took them out after 40 minutes, and they were perfect.

I just made these granola bars and they were so easy to make. I should have gone with my instincts instead of the cooking time for the receipe. Forty-five minutes seemed like too much time, but I didn't want to disagree with the Food Network recipe. I looked at them after about 20 minutes in the oven and they looked delicious. Because the receipe stated 45 minutes, I was afraid to take them out of the oven so early. About seven minutes early, I took the bars out of the oven. When I inverted them to cut them, that totally crumbled apart. The bottom of the bars was burnt....black on most of the bottom. What could have been such a fabulous recipe turned into a non-edible mess.
