What a waste of time! Wish there was more negative feedback! I am embarrassed to send my boyfriend to work with them tomorrow.

Im really excited about making these adorable spiders this year. Ive never made these and Im a first timer on making edible animals lol. I will take all of the past comments in concideration. Chocolate licorice (if I can find it, and melting already made caramel squares. Thanks so much for your helpful comments.

Cooking does not fit into a biology or chemistry class. Cooking is all about presentation and how the different spices and flavors blend together. Who cares if your making an edible spider to an edible cat. The only person who is going to judge on if this sprider has 8 legs or not is an etmologist or a stuck up person who is having a bad day. Dont ruin the fun for celebrating an exciting holiday.

I made these last year, and they were a big hit! I used chocolate licorice for mine since I don't like black. I agree they took a while and were labor intensive. If you enjoy a bit of a challenge, then give them a try. An extra set of hands is helpful if you've got them around. I plan on making them again this year.

OK, so this is just for fun, and not a biology assignment. But you wouldn't deliberately give a dog 2 legs, or 6. Just because it's for fun doesn't mean you shouldn't be accurate. And you are underestimating kids if you think they won't notice or care.
May try the recipe next year (with 8 legs

i just made these. they were kind of a process to make. but they turned out cute. i couldnt find black licorish (sp so i used red. and i used red hots for eyes. they looked liked creepy bugs, not spiders. and instead of making my own carmel, i just melted carmel. (much easier but they look really cute! not sure how they taste thought, havent goetten that far yet.

I had fun making these. Mine weren't as pretty as the picture, but I'm sure it's because this was my first time doing it. I agree that licorice is a strange flavor combo; I used pretzels instead. Can't tell you how it tasted though. I'm allergic to corn so the corn syrup was an issue. I'm interested in knowing how to make it with out corn syrup if anyone knows.

I thought the recipe turned out great. I can't wait to send them to work with my husband.

Mr. 6 legs, nobody thinks you're any smarter because you use big words or know that arachnids have eight legs. We've all known that since 1st grade. Also, if you are aiming to impress the anonymous internet masses, you really should work on your grammer.
Why bring us all down when we're just trying to have fun with a silly holiday, huh?

I think you have to realize these are for fun and show....not for biology or chemistry classes. Relax and have fun with them!

Cute recipe. I agree with some getting technical. Oh gee, It's just for fun guys! Do you really think the kids would care if it had 6,8 or 10 legs ? ? Thanks for the recipe!

These were nothing but a HUGE flop. Black licorice with caramel and chocolate, YUCK! Not to mention getting the legs positioned just right was a pain in the butt. Everyone ended up pulling them out and throwing them away. Not worth the hassel in my opinion. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME.
