I've never made caramel before, so this took me a couple tries to get. The second batch was great, the first and third not so much, and overall I found it just too much of a hassle. That's the nature of caramel/cooking sugar, true, but the end taste of the caramel didn't really make up for the time and frustration.

The recipe was great on the second try. You have to follow this recipe word for word, don't take any shortcuts when it comes to preparing the Carmel especially when it comes to stirring or you wont get the same results.

It was so easy, and the caramel was delicious. I had no problem reaching 320 in 10 mins. Remember not to stir as it lowers the heat. Another reason I really liked this recipe is because I didn't have to go out and spends tons of money buying ingredients> I had every thing but the heavy cream. I had extra caramel I didn't use, so I coated some spoons to use in coffee. I don't like to waste. :

I love caramel apples and this is the best that I've had. I didn't have a candy thermometer so I cooked it until it looked right. The apples tasted even better the next day after being in the fridge!

I TESTED THE CARAMEL APPLES BUT THE ONE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH IT IS THAT IT TAKES LONGER THAN 8 TO 10 MNUTES TO GET TO 320. F ANYONE MESSED UP THE CARAMEL APPLES THAT S WHY. MADE THEM AND T TOOK 28MINS TO GET TO 320...I DONT KNOW WHO ORIGINAL MADE THE RECIPE BUT THEY GOT THE TIME WRONG. OTHER THAN THAT THE APPLES CAME OUT PERFECT AND I DECORATED THEM AND SOLD THEM...

this recipe has no taste just sugar.i prefer the recipies that contain more butter.you must be careful not to remove from heat until it turns amber, dont worry it will and you will notice. i removed it too soon so i simply recooked it and fat chance it worked .
ive read alot of people have trouble with the caramel not sticking, i purchase apples by the bag and they have no wax so i never have this problem.
