This was my first time making homemade cranberry sauce and it was simple! I doubled the recipe because I have a big family (and cranberries were on sale and everything came out perfect. Instead of water I used the juice from two oranges (because I doubled it and just cut a couple of strips of the skin off and put it in. The times were correct even for double and I added just a little salt and a few cranks of black pepper and just ONE shake of cinnamon and it tastes delicious. I like keeping some berries out and adding them at the end so it shows whats in it.

My mom has been making a similar recipe for years. She uses 1 cup of red wine instead of water and 1 cinnamon stick. So good we have it all year!

Oh my goodness, I might eat all of this before Thanksgiving. Salt and pepper, who knew.
Amazing.

Wow! This is the best Cranberry Sauce Recipe I've ever used. However, since I'm such a good cook, my instincts took over. I have a gas stove. I followed the recipe but....when it asked for adding the extra cranberries that were set aside,I had already decided to add them after the first 10 minutes. When it called for the Orange peel I just peeled an orange and threw in the "big" pieces. I didn't need to add extra sugar at the end but the Salt & Pepper were a Wow. I cooked it longer because we are at an elevation of 7500 feet until the cranberries were cooked longer.
Then I chopped the big pieces of orange peel and threw them into the food procesor along with the cooked cranberries. I processed them to a good puree/jelly. Then I put them into a tupperware container and took plastic picnic spoons in one hand and took the sauce around for everyone to try. All I got were Thank you "wows!" from everyone. It is better than the canned stuff.

THis cranberry sauce was sooo yummy that my one year old actually devoured it when we mixed a little whipped cream with it. I did add just a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon but I did try before I added and the taste was wonderful and SUPER easy to make
