These pork chops turned out quite nicely. However, next time I think that I will add more cider and more sage.

Made this for dinner tonight. It was a pretty easy dish to make, and the flavors were good, but nothing wowed me. Added more buttermilk to the potatoes instead of the boiling water, and added some cinnamon and cayenne to the chops. A little brown sugar would have been nice in the apples, but I didn't add it.

I am a fan of this recipe. With a proper portion, I did not feel overly stuffed, I felt satiated. The apples for me were really soft, almost like an applesauce (which goes well with pork. I used simply apple juice instead of cider, and I skipped adding salt. I add very little salt to any recipe if at all. The pork chops were excellent without salt added. I added a tiny amount to the potatoes. The sauce could have been a little thicker, but I'd prefer to follow the recipe and not add flour. My chops came out super tender. I cooked them in the pan until brown on both sides, but still pink in the center. I ended up keeping them in the sauce longer to cook thoroughly. I doubled the recipe for left overs and cooked the pork in 2 batches, leaving some a little pink so they won't be dry on reheating.

This recipe was very good. I was very happy with the preparation, presentation and taste. I substituted the mashed potatoes with a mashed cauliflower. The combination was very good. I do agree with the couple other comments about the pork being a little dry. The next time I make these (and I definitely will I will reduce the time the pork simmers in the apple and onion sauce (maybe 3-4 minutes instead of 5 minutes per side. I can't wait to make this again.

This. is. so. good. I loved this dish. I will agree with a review I read a while back about how the apples become a little soggy. I did take them out of the pan when I was cooking the pork chops more. All the flavors were so great. Who knew apples and onions together would taste so amazing? Will definitely make this for a long time.

The sauce was very juicy and tasty. However, the pork chops turned out very tough and dry. Maybe I overcooked them? Not sure, but the potatoes were very good. I also made a side of collard greens which added a nice bitterness to contrast the sweetness of the pork chop sauce.

This meal was excellent. Who knew that apples and onions could make each other work so well. My fiancée actually used red fingerling potatoes so they came out purple! It didn't change the flavor but its not everyday you get to eat delicious purple mashed potatoes. Nonetheless the meal was great. The sage undertone on the pork meshed well with the sweetness of the apples and onion. Will definitely make it again.

I didn't have any fresh herb on hand, so I used dried sage. It still worked. The sage and apples have great flavor together, but for my two cents I would have preferred blending the onion and apples into a jelly. Don't be fooled by the picture with the recipe. The apples and onions are really mushy after cooking and don't hold up well. When I make this again, I'm thinking of taking the cooked onions/apples and blending them in my food processor with a little bit of brown sugar. That way I'll have a sauce or jelly to dip my tasty meat in.

I made mashed potatoes, but I skipped the buttermilk. Either way mashed potatoes and pork are great together.

I made this meal tonight and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. I followed the directions to the tee and it came our perfectly. Meat was moist and the apple-onion combination with pork was perfect. The mashed potatoes were also very good. I only gave it 4 stars because it was very good, not outstanding, like fine dining cuisine. Will make again on another cold day.
