I made this dish exactly according to the recipe and it was terrific. My husband and son loved it. I think it would also work well with boneless, skinless chicken breasts instead of pork chops. Definitely a keeper. I will make it again.

I followed the instructions, but this didn't come out right at all. But i still love Paula and will keep trying new things. Just not this one.

I did not make the potatoes, only the chops/apples. I ended up lightly breading the chops with seasoned flour to help protect the herbs during pan frying. I also thought the apple/onion mix wasn't sweet enough after making it according to the recipe, so I ended up doubling the cider and adding some splenda to get the balance better. My chops were pretty big so I let them rest in a warm oven while I made the apple mixture. It was all pretty tasty in the end; I would make it again. I peeled the apples too-personal preference.

Just made this for dinner and loved it. Made a few alterations though, I do not have a cast iron skillet so I used my regular 10" non-stick. I got country style thick pork chops and trimmed the fat. I also could not find apple cider so substituted with apple juice and a tsp of apple cider vinegar. It took longer for the apples and onions to brown up on my cruddy electric stove but otherwise it turned out well. For the potatoes I made my own recipe that I have used for years. I use red potatoes because I think the texture is much better. I added butter and if you mash and add the buttermilk, water and butter in increments it keeps them from becoming glue. ( I use a half a stick of real butter. The sage really makes this dish so I would not substitute it and I would definitely use fresh.

My boyfriend loves pork chops and always makes them with soy sauce (which kills me . I tried a few recipes on here and this was the best! I got rave reviews about the flavor, and the cider adds a great touch while keeping the chop moist.
Have made this several times and it keeps getting better!
I tried the potatoes with no luck, I need to sharpen my skills and cooking tools to keep them from becoming gross and gluey.

Seriously, my husband and I thought this dish was AMAZING!!!! I didn't have sage, so I used dried basil, instead. My suggestion on the apples and onions, let them cook as long as you have to and get them nice and brown before adding the cider, let it boil then put pork chops in and cover tight with foil and let it sit for like 15 minutes before flipping, re-cover, and sit again. The onions and apples get soooo soft and all the liquid caramelizes the stuff and adds amazing flavor. Our whole family loved it! AMAZING!!!!!

Delicious! Next time will brown the pork a little longer and use a little bit less cider. Didn't have a problem with the apples being a little mushy! Served with baked red potatoes and can't wait to share.

My husband and I were looking to try something new and I found this recipe in the food network magazine, so we thought what the heck we followed the recipe exactly and it turned out Fantastic. We have made it a couple of times since. Most definately should try this one, it's probably my favorite one off food network so far. The garlic mashed were delicious too!

This came out pretty good, however I tweaked it a bit to my liking. I pre-slit the pork horizontally then vertically into cubes still barely attached together. Its easier for the boys to eat and cut when cooked! Plus the slits absorb more flavor. I used apple juice instead of apple cider and also before rubbing it with Sage, salt and pepper, I let it sit in the extra apple juice I had left. Instead of using Granny smith I decided to use Asian Pear apples as someone indicated pears hold the shape better (next time will try apples. I might have added a bit too much olive oil when cooking the onions and apples because it didn't brown as I thought so with these alterations I added brown sugar to sweeten the sauce and flour to thicken it. Overall the boys liked the dish! Kid friendly, easy to make and will defiantly make it again.

The pork chops were fantastic! Everything about it was delish! (I did not make the mashed potatoes.I did have to use a little bit more oil than the recipe called for when cooking the pork. This recipe was so easy, it's definitely a keeper!
