My family and I loved this recipe! I didn't have the bread to make the croutons, so I just used some I had on hand. It was very easy to prepare. I have one warning though, be careful with the blender. Even on low I had to cover the top with a bowl so soup wouldn't explode out the top and burn me. It was delicious and we will definitely be adding to the rotation.

I really enjoyed making this as well as eating it....I hate those people who totally change the recipe around......well I'm one of those today. Instead of bacon I used smoked sausage, cut up about half a pound, also I only used about 41/2 cups of chicken broth no water, I used 4 large russet potatoes left the cream at 1/2 cup, added some smoked paprika and cajun seasoning to my soup, with some corn kernels and shrimp about half a pound, used a small amount of corn starch to thicken it just a bit.....so after all that It was very tasty I must say!!

OMG!! Really????? This is insane good...Have made another potato leek soup for years and loved it, but this??? Over the top good...and added only another 1/4 tsp salt to the soup after peas were added, since bacon waiting on the sidelines. Thank you! An awesome addition...

Perfect for a rainy cold day. We loved it. I used three large potatoes and left the water out, but increased the broth just slightly to cover all my potatoes. I thought the croutons were kinda of not so special alone, but after I put them in the soup and topped them with bacon...
    So delicious!!!

I have to give this 4 stars because I agree with the other reviews - the water makes it too thin and add 4 potatoes instead of 2. Also - I didn't make the croutons; instead made grilled cheese sandwiches with horseradish cheese. Very good!

Made this yesterday and just finished the last of it all by myself, so I'd say this is pretty good! The two cups of water listed in the body of the recipe, but not in the ingredient list, is obviously an error. Followed the recipe, except that I used four potatoes instead of two; left the water OUT and it was still thin; used half and half instead of heavy cream; and misread the salt and pepper measurement and used twice as much, and it was still not too salty. The croutons were so good with the smoked paprika.

I would definitely recommend skipping the water, adding 1/2 t celery seed and certainly don't leave out the home made croutons - they really do add a lot to the finished soup.
