I am an experienced cook/baker and can't figure out what happened with this cake. It was disappointingly dry. Would not make it again.

My first cake made from scratch!!! But I did have one problem. I did everything, following the recipe and my cake sunk in the middle, and I don't know why. I wonder if anyone experience the same thing. Overall, very good and moist cake. My hubby liked it!!

I am NOT a cook and have never made anything from scratch, but I made this cake for my daughter's b-day. Because I heard people say red velvet cakes tend to be dry, I substituted an equal amount of sour cream for the vegetable oil and vegetable oil in 1/2 the amount the recipe called for....the cake was sooooo good! I took the last piece to the coworker who suggested the sour cream today! I think I may LIKE cooking?

I made this cake for my husband's bday, I omitted the red food colouring as I couldn't find it anywhere ( I live in Italy and searched 3 different supermarkets the cake was delicious and very moist...my husband loved it! I think i actually like the fact that we didn't eat any of the red colouring. The only change I made was to the icing....I omitted lemon and used coconut flakes ( found this on another recipe for red velvet cake GREAT CAKE and just might bake it again this weekend for easter.

OMG This is a great recipe, my cakes came out very moist and tasty (I was able to get two 9-inch cakes. I also got great reviews from those I shared the cake with. This was my first attempt at a Red Velvet Cake and the recipe was very easy to follow. THANK YOU F/N for sharing this in your magazine. This one is a keeper!

Moist cake, good frosting, although there was enough frosting left over to do another complete cake.

WOW WOW WOW is all I have to say!! This was not only my first attempt at a Red Velvet Cake, this was my first attempt at baking a cake from scratch!! It turned out moist, delicious, and very red!! My husband was simply amazed and I was too. Great recipe, just follow it and you will be a rock star!! Oh... I did use my own cream-cheese frosting recipe which is simply 1 brick of cream cheese, 1 stick of butter and about 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar. Thanks FN kitchens!!

Just made this cake for my son's 15th birthday. He loves red velvet cake! I had mixed reviews on this one. My husband thought it was a little dry. I also had way more frosting than I needed. Need to add more moisture to the cake and less sugar to the frosting.
