I Agree with the bottom comments, i looked over this recipe over and over to find what mistake but as fas as i know i didnt make on, but the icing was horribly runy and make these "whoopie pies" just a sticky mess.

I was surprised at how moist the cake was. I have searched high and low for a moist red velvet cake, and I found it with these whoopie pies. They were so easy to make, and they were delicious even without the frosting. The frosting was easy to make too, and the vanilla bean makes it very pretty. It was a good cream cheese frosting, but an excellent red velvet cake! I would make these again and recommend them to my friends!

I was a little concerned to make these because of the mixed reviews; however, these cookies really turned out great. We used them for a 5 year old birthday party vs a full cake. I have a convection oven and used this to bake the cookies and they came out great.

Its unfortunate that a recipes such as this has its score ruined by people that claim it doesn't taste good, but within their review admit to not having done the recipe correctely. Give these scrumdelicious Whoopie Pie's a try and don't let any of the nay sayers scare you away.

This recipe was in the food network magazine and I should have known to check for reviews before wasting my time. The cake was awful and bland and the basic cream cheese frosting filling didn't help them at all. I'm SO glad I didn't use a real vanilla bean for the filling because there was no reason to. In no way could that have covered for the terrible cookies I have, it just would have made them more expensive garbage.

The cakes were tasteless and the filling was runny. If I were to try again, I'd add more vanilla to the cake batter and use a cream cheese frosting recipe as a filling.

I have another recipe that includes shortening rather than sour cream and cream cheese. The cakes were better before refrigerated. Prob wont refrig. next time, just get cheese filling good and cold before putting together
