Directions
If you want to make your own, scare up some marrow bones at a butcher shop, place them upright on a foil-lined baking sheet and roast at 450 for 15 minutes. Scoop out the marrow, spread it on toast and top with sea salt.

The hardest part of this is finding the shanks. In Virginia I go to Fresh Food Market because they actually have butchers!

So this was my first time making marrow bones myself... I usually just order them at restaurants. I however made the mistake of using a flat baking sheet instead of one with sides. Don't you go and make this same mistake... or you will be cleaning fat out of the bottom of your oven so that it doesn't smoke every time you turn it on! Haha! Anyways... this turned out great! I got a great baguette and sauteed some shallots in butter, fresh lemon, and s&p to top! Delicious!!! In hindsight... why on earth didn't I use common sense and use a baking sheet with sides. Duh!

We used to get the bones at my local grocery store all the time for $.59 a pound. I guess word got around how scrumptuous they are because now all of a sudden they're $2.99 a pound! (Same thing with pork belly, dang it! I made this for all my (adultkids and siblings at a family reunion last year and now they are oft requested. I use thinly sliced and toasted ciabatta bread rubbed with garlic. SOOOOO good and so good for you!!!
