Naturally, I added broth for the gravy rather than water, and as others stated, seasoned to my taste. But it's a good basic start to an alright, easy dinner.

Overall delicious! I agree with the other readers, the sauce lacked in flavor a little bit--try using reduced sodium beef broth in place of water or adding 3 beef buillon cubes to the water. Really easy and yummy!

I thought this was a great recipe although it lacked in flavor. I had to boost it up a bit but I love it. I added mushroom gravy mix to the patties along with summer favory and worcestershire sauce. As for the sauce I added mushroom gravy and sour cream. It purked it up a lot! As for the noodles, I used browned butter and parsley with garlic It turned out fabulous- will be making again!

Just a bored college kid that was craving this on a Tuesday Night. Decided to use part beef broth and part water. Used a lot more W.C. sauce, and added some A1 before returning the patties into the sauce. I sauteed my onions too. I thought it was pretty decent.

I actually would give it 4.5 stars. My father grew up on salisbury steak and he normally considers my cooking not "comfort food" enough. He gave it a thumbs up! I made 6 patties, and doubled the sauce (10 oz. mushrooms so there would be enough for the noodles as well. I used one can of beef broth, then added enough water to take it to 4 cups liquid. Other than that, no changes and it was a great weeknight, comfort food meal!

So delicious! Thanks, reviewers--as always, your tips make a big difference. In this case, the beef broth recommendations. The sauce did seem like it'd be a bit dull, so after browning the mushrooms I added about 1/2 cup of red wine and let it reduce. That made the sauce! Like bacon and butter, everything is better with wine! I also tossed the egg noodles with a bit of butter and chopped parsley.

This is excellent as long as you follow the suggestions of the other reviewers. Substitute beef broth, increase Worchestshire sauce, saute onions, add garlic powder, heavy pepper, have fun with doctoring it! But most important, have a side like mashed potatoes that can be used to scoop up the excellent gravy.

the beef patties were delish...love the sage in it so flavorful...the sauce def needs some work... i like other suggestions as to using beef broth instead of water! great idea! i would use 2 cups of broth cause it only 4 patties and dont forget to check and seaon at the end i would also add maybe another teaspoon of worchestshire sauce then is should be perfect. i will make this recipe again with the changes. wish i read this before i cooked it, but i must say my house does smell delish! i wish they could read our comments, improve the recipe and then send us an email with the revised changes.. that would be so helpful! and maybe start up a new column in the magazine and give us a shout-out and a thank u giving it 4 stars cause it has great potential.

I really love this recipe. Doesn't have a very strong beef flavor. Just add one package of dry mushroom gravy mix to the mushroom sauce and eliminate all salt. WONDERFUL, BEST EVER!
