yummmyyyyy these were SO good. word of advice: turn off the heat before you add the cocoa powder because it will burn very easily. and then turn the heat all the way down when you add the butter to allow it to melt. This worked great with me. Also, the tortillas fry VERY quickly, I burned my first batch because I underestimated the cook time. As soon as you see a slight hint of brown on the edges, flip them!

These are delicious! So easy to make, which is their only downfall, since I can end up making them multiple times a week. The chocolate sauce is fabulous, I use it on strawberries, cake, pretzels, and anything else I have in my cupboard that looks dippable.

These were delicious! As the other reviwer mentioned, these were crunchy, but still pretty good. Yum!

Sorry, simple mistake but these are not a sopapillas these are bonuelos and at that a cheap short cut. The difference is simple and as plain as the end of your nose. sopapillas are more pillowy, with a very slight chewy texture, is thicker about a cm thick remember the middle should expand so you can fill them w/ oh so much good things . although bonuelos are delicious they are to crunchy to be called sopapillas. Note bonuelos are different depending on culture and region. However here in Albuquerque a thin light crunchy "tortilla" is a bonuelo.
I would hate for anyone to mix this bonuelo for a sopapilla... we New Mexicans love our sopapillas! ; there are many recipes for sopapillas however remember the make up is like a tortilla so its super simple instead of water you can use milk it will make it more chewy. and make sure the oil you use to fry is clean.
