I have been on the search for a great sour cream coffee/tea cake and I have found it! The cake is easy to make, but it's important to follow the directions exactly as noted (e.g., add the flour in three stages and the sour cream in two stages. Also, watch the cooking time as my oven had it done in 1 hour exactly and I had to cover it with foil for the last 10-15 minutes since my oven browns all tops very quickly. The cake is very light, airy, moist and has just the right taste of sour cream. I have also tried it with pecans instead of walnuts and that works great too.

This sour cream coffee cake has no sour cream in its list of ingredients although it is mentioned in the directions. The amount remains a mystery.

This coffee cake was so good and easy to make. I liked that it was not too sweet but was sugar and cinnamon-y enough. My uncle loved it so much that he wanted to eat up the plate too!!

I liked the texture of this cake very much-it was very light. I also substituted cake flour. But I think there was something missing from this, the flavor really didn't grab me.

I substituted cake flour for flour and it came out light and moist.

I thought this cake was great. BUT. I slimmed mine down by added only three tablespoons of butter, and a half a banana. I also placed banana slices in the middle layer below the crumbs. Delicious! And less guilt-laden.

Easy to prepare and follow instructions. My cake was done in about an hour though. Cake was gone by the end of the day!
