This is good but not great by itself. However, with the quick marinara sauce and chicken Parmesan it is amazing. Yummy!!! Even better the next day!

It says right in the recipe to add the pasta and reserved water to the garlic mixture.

I'm getting ready to try this recipe.
I recorded the show and in the show he mentions reserving some of the cooking water from the pasta......for what?
He didn't use it in the show and it doesn't say for what it is needed for in the recipe!
Is this a kind of "kitcen good luck" thing?

I followed the recipe as it is written but I also sliced a handful of grape tomatoes and added to the garlic and olive oil. I agree with the others who said to definitely add the lemon zest...not an option as far as I am concerned! This was a great, light, healthy meal. I will definitely make this again.
