I receive the Food Network magazine & made this recipe last night. It was my first time making lentils and I thought this was a very simple recipe and was very good. I actually left the seeds & veins in half of the pepper as we like it spicy. I was worried about this being bland but it's not, however, I do think next time I will try one of the recipes with meat (perhaps Ina's with sausage. Also, being new to lentils I don't know the difference between the types. This recipe called for "red lentils" which I could not find. I don't know how this would have altered the taste, but I used the only lentils that were available at my local grocer and they were a greenish/brown color.
