I also had to boil longer than 5 minutes - closer to 8 actually.
Second change - I did two batches of twelve because of the size of my pot.
And, even though I dusted my hands with flour to roll the dumplings, I also rolled them in flour right before going in the boiling water. I think that helped them stay together better.
I served my 2 year old son first, out of the first batch, and he ate three, then asked for more, then ate another three dumplings. So an all-around "yes" vote from my family!

I agree with the others that posted about needing to cook the dumplings longer than 5 minutes. Most of mine fell apart in the water. I ended up scooping the dumplings out of the water, mixing them again and using it as filler for ravioli... the ravioli turned out to be very tasty.

Such a simple recipe to prepare. Must chop up the spinach next time, very stringy. Lacked seasoning though...

I omited the nutmeg and did cook it a bit past it rising, they came out wonderful and firm, even my 10 liked them very much. It was a good alternative to meat.

Yuck, I rarely just dump a whole pan of food, but both my fiancée and I thought these were gross.

This was very easy to make but they never quite got firm. Would be best as a little appetizer. We ended up frying them and they tasted good that way.

Great meatless lower calorie option. One tip is to maybe leave the dumplings in the simmering water a bit longer. The water temp cools once you add them, and doesn't start simmering again until the 5 minute time is about up. They were a bit too soft, but still very rich and delicious. I will definitely keep this recipe in weeknight rotation.

When I saw this recipe in the magazine this month, I couldn't wait to make it. The dumplings did take some time to roll up but the dough was quick and easy to prepare. I loved these (like cheese ravioli minus the pasta but my husband wasn't so thrilled. I think it's a great option for a meatless dinner, and it was easy and quick to prepare on a weeknight.
