I read the reviews before I made these cookies and saw how they weren't coming together like they should, so added the suggested egg and tbsp. of milk. I don't know if it was the extra egg or what, but these puppies stuck to my cookie sheet no matter what I did. Would not recommend these cookies.

I had been dreaming of these cookies after seeing them in the magazine. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews ahead of time nor listen to my own judgement from the get-go as I thought it odd there was only 1 stick of butter. so after the first batch didn't work I put it back on the stand mixer and added 1 T of butter, 1 T of milk and 1 egg. They're okay. They don't flatten down but the inside seems nice enough. just not the decadence I was hoping for. Not sure they're worth the calories. :-

The cookie dough comes out dry. Is there something missing? I did two batches and made one batch myself before giving the other as a gift. Glad I did cause they were like golf balls. The taste was okay but something is wrong. Food Network please post a correction before I give the mix as a gift so I can change the directions for cooking them.

This is an excellent cookie, provided you put in the correct ingredients. As other reviewers have said; add an egg and a tablespoon of milk (I used 1 1/2 T of milk. The recipe actually yields about 3 dozen cookies. The other issue that I had was that the container is too big for a snug fit of all ingredients. If you use a 1 liter container it will be a snug fit.

After putting this recipe together and test baking one cookie I decided to read the comments and reviews on the website. I was glad to see that others were having the same problem as I. I took the advice of other posters and added an additional egg, 1 tsp of baking powder and 1 tablespoon of milk. This really helped a ton! I also rolled them into balls and then flatten them slightly with the palm of my hand. They turned out great and I'm planning on bringing them to a Christmas party tonight. I am planning on giving this out as a Christmas gift as well, but will amend the recipe to match this new batch. I have to say that I was very disappointed with this original recipe, hence the 2 star review.

The dough is too dry - after reading the other reviews and baking one batch (they never spread out but looked like chocolate golf balls we added an extra egg and a tablespoon of milk. That helped the dough to bind together and for the cookie to spread out as they baked into a much nicer shape. Let them set before removing them from the cookie sheet as they are still fragile. They are really sweet (and delicious with all the chips and sugar, so have a big glass of milk on hand when they are done.

My sister and I baked these together, and when we had all the ingredients in the bowl we were certain we had missed something. We were staring at essentially a bowl of dry ingredients, with nothing to bind. We tried adding an extra egg, which helped some, but we feel it might be better with more butter as well. The recipe made almost 3 dozen enormous cookies. I might make these again myself, but I don't think I'd give these ingredients in a jar as a gift.

These cookies have a lot going on, but they are easy to make and they look good in the jar, with the variety of ingredients. I did add 1/2 tsp of baking soda as per Deborah's suggestion. They do get a little dense, and I had to shape them myself (like what PJ said b/c they weren't melting into a nice cookie shape. Watch your baking time and take them out a little early since they firm up fast. I tested these out on my coworkers, and they gave them good reviews. They are very chocolatey!

I didn't want to give this as a gift without testing it. But when I made a test batch, the dough didn't come together at all. I had to roll the dough into balls and then bake them. However, the dough was firm enough that they didn't spread like a cookie normally would - they were more like slightly flattened balls. They tasted good, but I'm wondering if the amounts on the wet ingredients are incorrect. Has anyone else had better luck?

I am dying to make these for gifts for christmas, though looking at the ingredients I am not sure if there should be baking soda or baking powder listed?
I tried to get an answer from the website but they keep sending me to a another department and I am tired of e-mailing them and not getting an answer. I'm hoping that someone will make these and let us know how they turned out and if the recipe is not missing anything. I really don't want to waste all those ingredientsl
