This is a perfect picnic recipe as it keeps and travels well. Super simple and yummier than that giant jar from Costco. I changed this recipe up by using chick peas in place of the kidneys beans and also added halved cherry tomatoes. This is a nice summer vegetarian side dish!

I used this recipe and love it. The dressing seemed too sweet at first, but after it set, the flavors melded and it was perfect. I used olive oil and red wine vinegar only because that's what I had on hand. It reminds me of the ones I had at church socials growing up.

I first tried this recipe when my husband and I went on the South Beach Diet. I substituted Spenda for the sugar and no one ever knew the difference!

I made the salad using the recipe, with a few exceptions. I used canned green beans, kidney beans, wax beans and chickpeas instead of fresh. In the marinade I used white wine vinegar as a substitute for the cider vinegar then added a liberal splash of cider vinegar to it. It is wonderful, the flavors meld together very well.

Used a can of drained green beans & a can of wax, instead of the fresh. Time factor. I also added a can of garbanzo beans, drained & rinsed, as well as 1/2 green pepper & 1/2 red pepper chopped. Substituted olive for the vegetable oil, for health & taste reasons. I love the method of heating the sauce, makes a huge difference. Thanks.

Followed original recipe- turned out OK. Made a few changes- turned out great. If you're interested:
Used white wine vinegar, not cider
Added one 15oz. can garbanzo beans
    Added one small red pepper
Used EVOO instead of veggie oil
    Hope you enjoy!

THE FLAVORS WERE NOT HARSH . I FIND THAT A LOT SALADS COMBINED WITH VINAGER, SUGAR AND OIL HAVE A OVERWHELMING TASTE. THE VEGETABLES GET LOST IN THE MIX.
