Wasn't the best and i followed directions. They could've been more moist.

These were delicious! I followed the recipe, but added a little bit of rosewater. I then made some buttercream frosting and colored it a light pink. I frosted them and made an egg wash to cover a rose petal in then diped it in sugar. I finally sprinkled some edible white sugar on top. They were soooooo good! I'm only 11 and this was so easy. You should defiantly make these

I've made these cupcakes a few times, each time a little different. First, I followed the recipe to the tee and they came out bland and dry. So I tried again, this time I decided to alter the recipe a bit. Instead of 2 tsp of vanilla I added 3, also I used salted butter vs. unsalted butter. This batch came out better, but still not great. So I decided to try one more time. I kept the changes from the second batch (3 tsp vanilla extract and salted butter and this time I used 2% milk instead of whole milk, also I baked them for 23mins. With the changes I made on the third batch the cupcakes were perfection! Hope this helps!

As for the frosting, personally I feel that the recipe given was too sweet. So, I have come up with my own recipe that is buttery, salty and sweet.

I have made these a few times since finding the recipe in the magazine. They are great! They are not too sweet, so when you put buttercream frosting on them they don't become oversweet. I have also used them as a shortcake for a berry shortcake! Either way, these are really good! Thank you food network!

I didn't have any problems with this recipe. The cupcakes were very easy to make and they tasted better than box cake mix. Not sure why so many negative ratings.

These were probably the worst cupcakes I have ever made. Sorry, Food Network, but that's the honest truth. The frosting was awful, I may as well have just topped the cupcakes with softened butter. The first batch of cupcakes we WAYYYY too airy, and they all fell apart, the second batch, after I let the mixture sit on the counter while the first batch was cooking, came out looking like corn muffins, and they were impossible to get out of the paper cupcake liners, so we ended up with half of a cupcake. I will not be using this recipe again.

I made these cupcakes and they are delicious, but not too fond of the frosting recipe. Would much rather prefer a butter cream frosting.

I have never made cupcakes from anything but a box. I tried these last night and they turned out better than I could have hoped! I didn't change anything from the recipe, I always have whole milk and unsalted butter on hand. They were delicious, light, fluffy, flavorful, not overpoweringly (is that a word? lol sweet, and yes a little denser than the crap in a box. I have no issues with that, they actually hold up to frosting like nobrakes said and I don't have to worry about making a ton of extras just in case my cupcakes crumble as I try to frost them. I have also never been able to do filling properly in box mixed cupcakes unless they were way over cooked. I will never make another box mix cupcake and I now have the confindence to try some of the more adventurous flavors. Thank you Food Network Kitchens! :
