This was a delicious recipe. I've never made homemade biscuits or sausage gravy before, and this was really easy. I did add more flour to the gravy recipe like another review mentioned. And I only had skim milk so, to avoid a really thin gravy, I used half and half for 1 3/4 c. of the milk, and then skim for the rest. It was thick and wonderful! I only had original recipe Bob Evans sausage - it worked great but we like spicy food so I added quite a bit of pepper and crushed red pepper as well. It turned out perfect!! Will definitely try it with Bob Evans zesty hot sausage next time. My boyfriend has excellent taste in food and he said this was the best sausage gravy and biscuits he's ever had. YUM!!

This will be the first review I have written due to someones thoughtless opinion below........First off this is a great recipe. It is easily altered. I substituted the freshly ground black pepper with a freshly ground Mediterranean 3 pepper blend. It gave this recipe that little bit of bite that I prefer. I double or even triple this recipe at times. Now SUSAN.......It is obvious that you didn't have a clue what Sausage Gravy even was when you made this recipe. As for the appearance....your choice of words is ridiculous. YOUR review could have stated that YOU didn't like the appearance. Next time just leave it at that. I am from proudly from Pennsylvania and for you to say and I quote "I guess in the South this is considered a good breakfast. To anyone raised in the North, it just looks like someone...." is down right ignorant. It is an insult to Southerners as well as an insult to Northerners. SUSAN do not ever speak for others again. I am Northern born and raised and I would like to thank the Food Network Kitchens and all Kitchens from the South for this wonderful and delicious recipe.

I do not generally review recipes on foodnetwork.com, I just hope for the best and end up altering recipes to suit mine and my family tastes. BUT I found this recipe to be dead on perfect ratio of sausage to "gravy" and it can altered so many ways yet still taste great. Further more I felt compelled to write this review not only to attest to this recipes greatness but to debunk a myth- I am from OHIO that is a northern state and for SUSAN below to say this is an awful recipe that looks like vomit is ignorant and bothersome. I feel that foodnetwork lets you taste the country state by state with out even leaving your kitchen! No this in not a healthful recipe but its a darn good one in moderation. I hope you all try this recipe its really really yummy.

I guess in the South this is considered a good breakfast. To anyone raised in the North, it just looks like someone vomited all over the plate. The very idea of eating it is disgusting. It's not just unhealthy, it's enough to turn one's stomach.

We don't eat pork in our house...nothing religious, just a preference I guess...anyways, I have a fantastic recipe for making breakfast sausage out of 80/20 ground beef and the gravy recipe here works perfectly!
