These turned pretty good. They were much sweeter than I expected. I used whole wheat flour and added a tsp of vanilla. The only problem was they didn't get crispy on the edges, so once the syrup hit them, they got soggy pretty quick. They still tasted good and were healthier than most waffle recipes. Even my husband ate them, and he runs when words like whole wheat are mentioned :

Can you really call it whole wheat using white flour?. I Substituted the white flour with actual whole wheat flour and added a touch more brown sugar. Also upped the flavor ante with 1 tsp vanilla. Yum!

This is the best waffle I've made with the following changes. I used whole wheat pastry flour instead of AP flour and replaced the butter and oil with an equal amount of unsweetened applesauce. I also used Splenda brown sugar. My batter came out thin so I just added more flour (about 1/3-1/2 cup to thicken up the batter. I used a little more than 1/2 cup of batter per belgian waffle and was able to make 5 waffles. Like some others, my waffles did not come out crispy but it was still delicious.

Super Yummy! The only thing I changed was to separate the eggs and whip the egg whites before adding them at the very end. Next time I will use whole wheat flour. I can't wait to make these waffles again.

So Good! Didn't even "need" syrup, but even better with a drizzle of maple syrup. Delish!

Very good recipe! I added some allspice, nutmeg, vanilla, and honey to the batter for my 2 year old son. He loves french toast and i suspected he would appreciate the added ingredients! Also added some blueberries to the batter! Yum!

Delish! We substituted butter and oil for safflower oil, whole wheat flour for AP and eggbeaters for eggs and the waffles turned out great. Topped off with some fresh summer strawberries, it was a fantastic breakfast!

Very good recipe! I used whole wheat flour like others did to really make them whole grain, but other than that I didn't change anything else. They were soft and not so crispy but I don't mind that. The waffles were yummy without anything on them but putting maple syrup and letting the flavors meld together made for a pretty great breakfast!

this are really good. i dont think you can all them whole grain if you use white flour. i did this time because the last whole wheat ones i made nobody liked. i used applesauce instead of oil and next time i will leve out the cinnamon and add vanilla. if it had truly been whole grain, i would've given it 5 stars.
