In western Pennsylvania we call them "GOBS". A marshmallow filling is a NO-NO---too sweet. We have an easy cake recipe. The filling takes a little time and is delicious--never overpowering the chocolate.

the cookie was great but the marshmellow part was not good.

    try this frosting recipe:
    3 cups powdered sugar
    1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter, softened
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 to 2 tablespoons milk
    Food color, if desired

Combine powdered sugar, 1/3 cup butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla in small bowl. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often and gradually adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency. Tint with food color, if desired.

I'm with a few others on this one. A marshmellow is not a traditional filling for whoopie pies. I was hoping for a more traditional recipe.

These whoopie pies were easy and delicious. My friends got a kick out of them. But, definitely, use one big marshmellow, or else there will not be enough filling. And believe me, no need for a filling, these are still the best whoopie pies I have ever tasted, marshmellows are easy yummy.

Personally, i didn't think they were amazing because for me, they were too chocolately and it overpowered the marshmallow. And I really do love chocolate. But everyone else I gave them to said they were amazing. Maybe it's just because I baked them.

this is a great recipe. First time I ever made whoopie pies and took them to a garden club meeting and the ladies all wanted the recipes...they ate them all. My husband said it would be one of his choices of foods most wanted if stuck on an island.

This recipe was an absolute hit with my kids and their friends! I used bittersweet chocolate instead of semisweet chocolate. I think using a marshmallow for the filling is an excellent idea and worked perfectly!

The cookie portion was to die for... sooooo rich! But I had trouble with the filling. A full jumbo marshmallow was just way too big, so next batch I cut them in half. Perfect! The jumbo marshmallow makes the whole stack fall over--I ended up using toothpicks to hold the whole thing together.
