These cookies were great fun to make with my son and were even better to eat. I chose to drizzle chocolate for a more festive look to put into my cookie bags for the neighbors.

I decided to include this fun recipe to my holiday cookies to give out as gifts. The cookie was tender to the bite, but I'm not sure what to make of the peppermint candy topping. Family and friends who received this batch were mixed on whether they liked or disliked this festive treat. It is unlikely that this recipe will be put to use again next Christmas.

These cookies take a lot of time but are easier if you make candy cane sticks!

This is a nice, delicate butter cookie by nature. I added a bit of extra flour, left out the almond extract and added extra vanilla to the plain dough as well as peppermint to the red. I also baked them on parchment, and after 9 minutes I added the sugar mix and threw them back in for a minute. Except for a couple that broke at the bend, they are a wonderful break from the sugar overload! Also drizzled white choc w/ peppermint over them, yum!

It's a great recipe, I agree that these cookie are a little soft but all in all they're good. They're a cookie that requires patience and a steady hand. They are not a slice and bake cookie, but a shaped cookie which is why I think some reviewer had problems with. I didn't have luck with the crushed candy, i recommend added a little peppermint extract instead.

The making of the cookies were great, and enjoyable. The finished result was yucky! Luckily I tried a cookie from each batch and added more vanilla extract. The cookies don't really have a taste, and have WAY too much of an almond taste. I might try adding peppermint and vanilla rather than almond! Also couldn't get candies to stick either, so that was a dud.
