At the time I saw this recipe, I only has a package of ground deer meat. The boys I fed it to loved it. I'm trying it again with the ground beef, I'm sure it will be great. Quick and fun to make, kids love to help make them.

I stumbled across this recipe in The Dean Bros. Ya'll Come Eat cookbook and was very pleased with the result. I have never used puff pastry before but it was very easy to use. (Right next to the phyllo dough in the freeze section
I used a mixture of ground buffalo and organic ground beef and I also added diced red bell pepper and mushrooms and it was wonderful. YUMMY. My husband ate this cold when he came home from work and he thought it was "good". I popped a few in the toaster for him and they were "GREAT!" Happy Cooking!

These little burgers are awesome. I finely chopped bacon and added that to these burgers, it was great. I also made a chipolte mayo as a dressing to put on top. The chipotle mayo gives it an extra kick which pairs well with the savory and heavy burger.

I made these as an appetizer before Christmas dinner, and they were a big hit! They only lasted 5mins on the table. They would be great anytime of year.:

I had some pre-packaged frozen cocktail weenies wrapped in puff pastry which I made and decided to make these hamburgers in addition. They were a huge hit and fit wonderfully on the platter with the weenies.(next time I will just make my own wrapped weenies These were all gone before any other appetizer! I didn't use chees as I didn't know the crowd but will definitely try that and the bacon. Great recipe and the puff pastry is super easy and forgiving. don't let that party intimidate you!

I love this recipe but use something differnet that you all might find helpful. I use a can of crescent rolls. Flatten out each triangle and put the miniburger in the middle. Lay the cheese on top and wrap the burger in the crescent dough. Pop these in the oven for 10 - 12 minutes and they come out wonderful. I make them often for poker night and the guys can't get enough. Sometimes I even put a small piece of bacon on top. Thanks Jamie for a great recipe I will make again and again.

My family loved these mini burgers so much that they filled up on them and couldn't eat the main dinner!

Excellent room for variations! Scrumptious! Some have voiced this too difficult due to the use of Filo Dough. Allow me to expand on the difference between puffed pastry and Filo.

Puffed Pastry is a thicker dough than Filo, that is easy to use & repair, & is ready to bake without any prepping. It automatically puffs up when heated through.

Filo Dough are delicate paper thin pieces of dough that requires one to stack layers & sometimes brush on melted butter in between these layers. It's used in recipes such as baklava. You can get creative with Filo dough however it requires patience and a delicate hand.

This recipe requires the easy to use PUFFED PASTRY not the FILO dough, Shauna. I suggest you try this recipe sometime using the required Puffed Pastry & without fretting as it's so easy to use a child of 5 could master it.

This recipe was the cat's meow with all my guests and is going to be a regular appetizer around my home. I liked adding fresh bacon bits inside!
