Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
- 2/3 cup balsamic vinegar
- 3 cups ketchup (recommended: Heinz)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup honey
Directions
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add shallots and saute for 1 minute. Add balsamic vinegar and reduce by half. Add ketchup, brown sugar, and honey; bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

The recipe was a little too acidic & Ketchupy. After I added 1/4 white sugar some garlic and a dash of salt.......it was perfect.....I guess not the same recipe......but overal......it is an okay recipe.......It is a good 'base' recipe.
