I used canned corn instead of fresh but it still turned out great. I didn't cook the bacon long enough, so it the fat was still a little bit chewy. Definately let the fat render completely. Very filling chowder.

this is a perfect chilly sunday afternoon meal. I simplified it a bit, with only a pound of chicken boneless, skinless chicken breast, and 2 cans of corn. Terrific!
